To enhance time and route management, all customer addresses are entered into GPS mapping software. It’s important to note that a sprinkler blowout request from a week ago and one from two days ago may be completed on the same day, depending on our route progress. Rest assured, we are committed to completing all blowouts on our list. If your property hasn’t been serviced during the scheduled area visit, it will be addressed in the next round. We have a track record of never accidentally missing a sprinkler blowout on our list.

You will receive a text message notification either the night before or as early as possible on the day of our technician’s visit to your area.

Yes, the only action required is to turn it to the “Off” or “Rain” position. Alternatively, you can unplug the control box, but please be aware that doing so may require reprogramming in the spring when the irrigation is turned back on.

No, winterizing your sprinkler system by blowing it out will not provide protection for the main water line against freezing.

No, it’s not necessary for you to be present. The technician only requires access to your sprinkler water turn-off valve and valve boxes. You have the option to leave payment under a doormat or in a valve box (please inform us via text), or we can text you an invoice for online payment. Venmo payments are also accepted. Additionally, you can choose to pre-pay for your sprinkler blowout, but payment must be received before any service is rendered.

No, typically the technician does not need access to the sprinkler control box in your garage. We usually open your sprinkler valves at the valve boxes located in your yard. However, if the technician is unable to locate these valve boxes or encounters difficulty in manually opening the valves, they may need access to the electronic controller in your garage to activate the valves. This is a rare occurrence, and our preference is to operate the valves at the valve boxes whenever possible.

When our technician arrives at your house for the sprinkler blowout, they follow a systematic process:

1. The technician will first inform you at the front door about initiating the winterization process for your sprinkler system. It’s important to note that you don’t necessarily need to be present during the service.

2. Access to the backyard is crucial as most shut-off valves are located there. The technician requires a clear path on either side of the house. If there are dogs on the property, they should be placed in their kennel or inside the house.

3. The technician will connect a large hose from their compressor to your sprinkler system to perform the blowout.

4. The process involves:

   • Turning off your sprinkler water at the below-ground valve to prevent water from entering the system post-blowout. This valve must remain shut until you’re ready to turn your water back on in the spring.
   • Manually opening the sprinkler valves at the valve boxes and providing compressed air to remove water from the sprinkler pipes.
   • Advising you to turn your sprinkler controller to the “off” or “rain” setting until spring.
   • If your sprinkler system has a filter, blowing out the water to prevent damage to the filter and filter assembly.
   • Ensuring that any boiler valves (spigot) connected to your sprinkler system are opened and blown out.

5. After removing all water from your sprinkler system, filter, and spigots, the technician will close all valves and replace the filter and filter end cap if removed during winterization. In some cases, the technician may recommend leaving a valve or filter housing open for evaporation.

6. It’s essential to replace the filter housing or cap and close any open valves before turning your water back on in the spring.

Your sprinkler system is now winterized and ready for use in the spring.

Typically, sprinkler systems are connected to one of three types of water sources: city (domestic) water, pressurized irrigation, or a well. City and well water are usually available throughout the year, while pressurized irrigation systems typically operate from approximately April 15th to October 15th. Regardless of your home’s water source, it is essential to have the water valve to your sprinkler system shut off before it can be blown out. During the blowout service, we will turn off your sprinkler water, and if necessary, we can turn it back on in the spring.

In many cases, homeowners only discover pipe damage when they start watering in the spring and find leaks in their yards. A backflow system is an integral component of your sprinkler setup, particularly if your system is connected to a domestic (city) water supply or if you rely on a well. Mandated by the State of Idaho for the protection of all sprinkler systems, backflow systems act as a crucial barrier to prevent contamination from entering the domestic water supply through the sprinkler system.

Backflow assemblies, as depicted in the image, may be situated either above or below ground level. Similar to sprinkler pipes, it is essential to properly winterize backflow systems to shield them from freezing and potential breakage. This component is particularly vulnerable as its piping is often above ground and exposed to the elements.

It’s worth noting that if you use pressurized irrigation for your lawn, you may not have a backflow system.
